111 Ridiculously Obvious Thoughts on Selling
A friend sent me a link today by email. It was to a document written by the legendary ‘management guru’ Tom Peters. 111 Ridiculously Obvious Thoughts on Selling. There are some great tips here, many I’ve heard, but forgotten, some fresh.
As well as being an interesting read, it got me thinking. Why not write a “111 Ridiculously Obvious Thoughts on Online Marketing” document.

1. Keep your website simple and easy to use.
2. Try and collect email addresses at every opportunity.

1 99% of the time don’t use flash
2 the most important user of your site is Google not you or any other human
3 no more than 3 clicks to get to any page of a website
4 start early get a place holder page up ASAP to alow the search engines to get to know that the site exists.
5 don’t use frames
6 start simple don’t run before you can walk
7 decide how the site will work and what functions it will alow the user to do before doing any design work.
8 Design so that menues and navigation can be expaned (leave space for extra buttons)
9 before launch and during the design phase get some non involved and non technical people to use the site if you working on it evry day it can be dificult to look at it with fresh eyes as an end user would
