Google has further increased its share of the search market, a study by Hitwise has found.

The research indicates that Google powered around 78 per cent of all UK internet searches in the four weeks to October 21. This is a 9% increase on last year.

Yahoo! took 2 place based on UK searches making up 7.7% of the search market.

Together Google, Yahoo!, MSN LIVE and Ask.com powered 96.6% of all UK internet searches, an increase of 2% year-on-year.
